Most of you have questions concerning your trip, and I’d like to be as informative as possible!

Q. Will you have electricity in Swaziland?
A. Yes, your housing will have electricity!

Q. Mailing Address?
A. Swaziland Address:

Adventures In Missions
Attn:  your name
PO Box 5526 Mbabane
Swaziland, Africa

It costs money to RECEIVE packages from the USA, no matter what the person paid to send it.
The best way to receive care packages is for the people in the USA to send things in padded envelopes.  Care packages sent in boxes however can be very costly to pick up, depending on the size, weight, and contents of the package.  Letters and post cards cost nothing to receive, thus these are best!  Packages typically take 1-2 weeks to get to Swaziland from the Unites States Postal Service…****However, once they arrive to Swaziland they need to be cleared by customs…This can take anywhere from a week, to a month, to more than 2 months…or even “never arrive.”  Just so everyone knows.  We’ve had a package sent in February, however it only arrived in December of that year.  Set expectations low, and hope for the best 🙂

Q. Money?
A. We do not reccomend bringing more then. ~$50 extra spending cash. We do suggest you bring a ATM card to withdraw money.

Q. Mosquito Nets?
A. They are not required to have but if you wish to bring them that is your choice, there are lots of mosquitoes. For some of the time you will be in bunks, so hanging nets won’t always work, wrap-around ones are better.  It is hot and the mosquito nets do make it hotter.

Q. Can family and friends go to the team blog page?
A. YES! You will be posting updates while you are out on the field. We highly suggest family and friends subscribe to this blog so they can be part of your ministry while your gone!

You might be sleeping outside here at training camp. You need to come prepared for cold weather here as well.

  1. Hey guys…
    great questions and answers!!!
I have a couple of other things that I’m not sure if I mentioned to you or not…
-we’ll be cooking our own meals, so seasoning packages like tacos, marinades, chili, etc are always a good idea. It’ll make our meals a lot more interesting and you can’t always get these things in swazi!!
-we will also not be buying juice or anything other than water, so i like to bring the crystal light packages to add to my water bottle. This is also a great idea if you’re not very good at drinking a lot of water, cuz you’ll have to in Swazi!!
-hummmm…what else can’t you get in swazi??? chocolate chips (although the do have great chocolate), ranch dressing (you can always bring with you the powdered stuff), sugar-free chocolate pudding (my fav!!), splenda….hummm…there’re really random, but that’s all i can think of right now!!
-girls, it’s also a good idea to bring either leggings or spandex to wear under your skirts!!

Um…i think that’s everything..if you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail Matt or I!!

  2. Thank you so much! That answered alot of my questions! hahah I just want to be as prepared as possible for this trip and these questions helped out alot!

    Thankyou!

  3. As far as the electricity go, do we need to buy adapters or anything? Or will we just not need them… And how much does it cost to do things there? I assume it can’t be much since you’re only suggesting $50.00. My parents are shooting questions at me right now as we speak. So, I’m sure I will be back with more! Thanks!! See you soon!

  4. You should go to radio shack or any electronics store and pick up a converter and adapter. They say on the package what countries it converts for… if swaziland and south africa are the same.

They are suggesting 50$ in cash to bring, but you will definitely want to spend more than that. (you dont have to spend more than that, it is totally a personal thing, but there is a lot of fun extra stuff to do)….. your atm cards will work… so you will have access to money in your accounts.
